Miami Polaroids
It was finally cool enough the other day to use my box of Impossible Project PX 600 Silver Shade UV+ film. Taken with a Polaroid 600 Land Camera.

Toronto
In August, I traveled to Toronto, ON, Canada for a family funeral. Despite the depressing reason for going, I had a great time and LOVED the city. Plus, I got to meet my Hungarian/German relatives, which was a pleasure. There are also a few photos from the Detroit airport and Niagara Falls, NY which were included in our trip.

AntiWarpt Festival Coverage
July 30th was the second annual AntiWarpt Fest, St. Petersburg’s answer to Gainesville’s The Fest and an alternative to the Vans Warped Tour. AntiWarpt featured over 60 local and regional bands spread across eight unique venues in downtown St. Petersburg, FL.
This was the first festival I went to where I had to bounce between different venues to see all the bands I wanted to see. ...

The Hundred in the Hands @ Electric Pickle
Thursday, June 23rd, electronic duo The Hundred in the Hands played a special live engagement at the Electric Pickle in Wynwood courtesy of local blog/bookers Nightdrive. Their fresh NYC pop sound tickled the eyes and ears of the many admirers squeezed together ready to dance. I even spotted some true THITH fans upfront, decked out in their merch. Thanks to Moshe for inviting me to shoot the...

Sweatstock 2011
Sweat Records had their 2nd Annual Sweatstock event in honor of Record Store Day on April 16th. Tons of great bands played both in their outdoor stage and inside Churchill’s Pub. This year there were more food options including the Purple People Eatery food truck and Ragga Cart where I ate an awesome veggie burger with homemade chips! I also bought PJ Harvey’s White Chalk on vinyl...

Betsey Johnson Fashion Show @ Grand Central
Betsey Johnson’s Coral Gables store held a nautical-themed fashion show at Grand Central on April 3rd. Fans of the designer came out in droves (including myself) to sneak a peak at the new styles.

Marc Geffrard
Marc Geffrard is a keyboardist working in South Florida. I met him at a friend’s party a couple of years ago and we’ve been trying to have this photo shoot since then, lol. He’s going to be using a couple photos on his website and for general promotion. This was a fun shoot and Marc is a great guy!

Found Bookmarks →
I have a new project in blog form called Found Bookmarks. I’ve been collecting bookmarks from the Richter Library at the University of Miami that people have left inside the library books. It’s becoming quite an interesting collection so take a look if you have a chance. I try and update it every two days.

Little Beard @ Xerox as a Verb
The cutest band in Miami, Little Beard, played at a special gig during Xerox as a Verb, a black and white poster show at 2020 Gallery, during Wynwood Art Walk. For their last song, a cover of Sonic Youth’s “My Friend Goo,” the band donned plastic masks purchased for them by their lovely singer, Sarah, in Panama. Here are a few highlights from the show. The full set can be found...

Iris Mayhem: Mission 6 "The Slab"
This was the 2nd mission I did with Iris Mayhem. You can see the previous one at the Miami Marine Stadium here. We did a lot of light painting and playing with fire as you can see. My boyfriend and I found these cool flashlights/glowsticks at Publix in the automotive section and you can see them in action in the first and 3rd photos.

Tyvek w/Snakehole and the Ticks
January 22nd, Churchill’s Pub put together this fabulous group of punk/post punk bands. Tyvek (from Detroit) Lone Wolf (one man band) Snakehole Fuck Yeah! The Ticks
I’m always down to watch the Ticks play since their crunchy sound keeps getting better and better, but the real stars were the all-girl Snakehole. Riot-girl inspired but without the empowering lyrics. They’d much...

Miami Marine Stadium
Last weekend I ventured out with the Iris Mayhem Photography group to one of Miami’s long lost historical landmarks, the Miami Marine Stadium. The stadium is in complete disrepair and covered in graffiti as you can see from the photos. However, the graffiti brightens up the otherwise abandoned structure and has transformed it into a meeting place for photographers and artists alike.

Photo Shoot with Deaf Poets
Last Tuesday, Nylon Magazine came down for a special show hosted at Sweat Records in Little Haiti. Deaf Poets, as well as Raffa Jo Harris, Animal Tropical, Lil Daggers, Afrobeta, ANR, and Rachel Goodrich played sets in an impromptu show celebrating a small section of Miami’s music scene. The Sunday after said show, Deaf Poets asked me if we could do a photo shoot because they are in need of...

Death to the Sun II @ Black Bar
Saturday, September 25th, the second installment of Death to the Sun occurred at tiny local favorite Black Bar downtown. A self-defined “free-farewell-to-summer” show, Death to the Sun attracted fans of the hardcore, indie, folk, blues, and electronic persuasions with many sub-genres explored in between. Cleverly, the show was promoted as 18+ AND free, allowing broke-as-a-joke...

Crystal Castles @ Grand Central 9/11/10
Crystal Castles coming to Miami has been one of the most anticipated events of the fall concert season. The duo, Alice Glass and Ethan Kath, are known for their energetic live shows where Alice often climbs into the audience and screams into their happy, noise lovin’ faces. Crystal Castles have played at Ultra Music Festival and even Churchill’s Pub, but with the recent success of...

The Renegades @ White Room 8/6/10
The Renegades, along with a whole host of other bass warriors in the Red Room at White Room, played Natalie’s Birthday Bash on Friday August 6th. It was a poor showing and an unenthusiastic crowd but the boys made do with what they were given.

A couple of weeks ago, Michael Lum was riding his bike early morning in Coconut Grove when he was struck by a motorist. His injuries landed him in the hospital, and without health insurance, an astronomical bill. Members of the Miami Bike Scene and Critical Mass riders, along with Miami’s community-oriented music scene, banded together to create this beautifully intimate benefit show to...

Vanessa and Brian's Wedding
Assisted Minerva Photography on another wedding last week. Everyone was really nice and I enjoyed shooting Brian and his best man while they were getting ready. The ceremony and reception was held at the Coral Gables Women’s Club which is a really neat old building. The lighting was a little tricky because the main room of the ceremony was surrounded in windows, but I think the photos I...

Andrea and Robbie's Wedding
My friend Michelle aka Minerva Photography has graciously allowed me to be her assistant on weddings. This was the first one I did a couple of weeks ago. It was a gorgeous one. Winter wonderland themed. I assisted her with posed shots of the wedding party, mainly setting up the lighting; I was also the second shooter during the ceremony and reception; and I helped her change lenses while she...

So Raw Festival 2 - Day 2
I missed Gull which judging from all the chatter, may have been the best act of the whole fest. It was my third time seeing the Ticks and they were great as always. I hope the drummer is okay though; his face was all beat up. It must’ve been hard to drum with a black eye. Brian’s Dirty Business may have annoyed the crowd last year but this year they were energetic and fun even...

So Raw Festival 2 - DAY 1
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…or something like that.
So Raw kicked off at the Stage with tons of free beer and vodka. The vodka mixed happily with some vitamin water, but i don’t know about that wasabi stuff they were serving.
Friday night lineup:
Scam Buddies Teepee Sexcapades Shining Path Lovehandles Electric Bunnies

On Thursday, the second Hula Hula event at Black Bar was hosted by Peasants with Feathers, pin up model Bella Rockafella, and So Raw. The surf music event was deemed the official So Raw pre-party and also featured burlesque troupe The Reckless Dames and live art by Danielle Veit. The Reckless Dames weren’t on the flyer but they stole the show with their summer themed strip tease. That...

Poplife's 11th Year Anniversary
Last Saturday, Poplife celebrated their 11th year anniversary at their new home, Grand Central. Although there was a bit of drama between Grand Central’s security and the boys of Surfer Blood, they put on an exciting show along with Hooray for Earth and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

So Raw Store Opening
June 12th marked the opening of Miami’s filthiest music festival SO RAW’s pop up shop at the NDS shop in the design district. If free beer wasn’t enough to get you through the door, the shop also offers coffee & other beverages, snacks, Mexican goodies, zines, t-shirts, So Raw merch, tons of records by local and national bands (used and new), and designer jewelry. I also...

Miami's Endless Summer
Last Friday was a show called “Miami’s Endless Summer,” put together at Churchill’s Pub by Sean of Deaf Poets. Along with bunches of great Miami bands delicious vegan cupcakes and chili were for sale along with plenty of alcohol at the bar. Early in the night there was a decent size crowd, but it became evident that most of the people there were friends of one of the...

California Love
During the first week of June, my boyfriend Edwin and I took a trip to California. My primary reasoning in going was to see my family, but he has never been to the west coast before so it was a new experience for him. I won’t bore you with all the details but I wanted to create this post to showcase some of the photos of locations we visited and things we did. Enjoy!

So Raw: LETS MAKE MEMORIES
May 29th at BAR, So Raw took over with Crusaders of Love and The Ticks. Being at BAR was a welcome change from the parking lots and warehouses where previous shows have been held. Never underestimate air-conditioning in Miami in the summertime. Both bands played great music and raised the bar (pun intended) for future So Raw events. Lets hope the festival this weekend is just as good.

Stefanie's Senior Portraits
One of my roommates, Stefanie, approached me a couple month ago and asked if I would take her senior portraits. Eager to get some more spontaneous outdoor portraiture under my belt, I agreed. We went all around the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus where I graduated from in 2008, and where Stefanie is graduating from this year as well. She is a Sugar Cane, which is a bat girl for...

Sweatstock After Party - Midnight Madness
Attracted by free beer, jello shots, and the promise of more music, party-goers headed over to So Raw’s Midnight Madness party, just blocks away from Sweat Records. Originally headlined by Teenanger and Lil Daggers, it was a slight let down to find out both bands canceled. Luckily, So Raw regulars Teepee and Jacuzzi Boys just happened to be there and provided the entertainment up until...
